Exploring and assessing the industry

All ETB research strives to underpin the mission 'To improve recognition within UK society of the importance of engineering and technology, and to encourage the ready supply and professional development of appropriately skilled individuals'.
We do this through the generation of knowledge and partnerships and dissemination of unbiased information derived from the application of research and the evaluation of projects.
We work in collaboration with partners to produce a strong portfolio of research projects. That means, we may do our own research or commission partner institutes to produce research for us because we want to ensure our policies are widely researched and consider as many views as possible.
Amongst the ETB’s research programmes commencing in 2007 are the ‘Survey of Registered Engineers 2007’, ‘Teaching Costs in Engineering Departments’, 'International Benchmarking Project’ and ‘Skills Implications of the Lisbon Agenda'. To find out more click here
The ongoing ETB programmes that commenced in 2006 include ‘Engineering Foundation Degrees’, ‘Engineering for Further Education’ and ‘Regional Trends in Vocational Education’. To find out more click here
'Engineering UK 2006' builds upon the 2005 edition and previous editions of the 'Digest of Engineering Statistics'. The research involves the production of a guide to labour supply and demand in science, engineering and technology. To find out more click here
This section constitutes all recent in-house and external research undertaken by the ETB, in partnership with various other organizations. To find out more click here
