Over the last few years, scenta.co.uk has become the UK's most successful information portal in the science, engineering and technology (STEM) sector, with over 400,000 visitors each month accessing information from more than 100 content partners.

The portal includes a main news and information site supported by nine specialist 'channels'.  The role of the channels is to attract users with interests in particular subjects, such as:

  • Environment
  • Health
  • Sport
  • Nature
  • Transport
  • Music
  • Gadgets
  • Film
  • Games

Once on the site, users will quickly discover the impact which science, engineering and technology has on their interest and how they might pursue a career in STEM.

Scenta provides unrivalled access for organisations looking to reach a key audience of people motivated to develop their careers and their interests in STEM.

Our Users

The 2007 survey of scenta users attracted just short of 900 responses: giving us the most accurate view of who visits our site so far.

It is probably not at all surprising that our audience consists of a young, highly qualified, net-savvy, economically active group – nor that we appeal almost equally to male and female – 52% are female, 48% male.

What is more unexpected is that we don’t just attract the attention of the SET community – 39% of our users are from sectors including banking and finance, creative arts, retail and other services.

In summary, then our users are:

  • 67% are in the economically active age range of 24-45
  • 84% are in full-time employment 
  • 13% are in full-time study

Highly qualified

  • 41% are educated to degree level or higher 
  • 19% have a masters, doctorate or professional qualification

  • 96% access via broadband
  • 97% regularly purchase goods and services online
