National Science and Engineering Week (7th - 16th March)
National Science and Engineering Week 2008 will take place between 7-16 March. Over half a million people are expected to take part in thousands of events throughout the UK, from building helicopters in the Highlands with ‘Build and Fly Your Own Helicopter’, to learning how to protect the planet in ‘Engineering Earth’, to firing catapults in the House of Commons at ‘The Smallpeice Trust / ETB Trebuchet Challenge’.
For a full programme of events, or to register your own engineering event if you haven’t already done so, please visit the online National Science and Engineering Week programme at www.the-ba.net/nsewprogramme.
All this information and much more can be found on the National Science and Engineering Week website. So if you need inspiration, make sure you visit www.the-ba.net/nsew.
‘The Big Question’
Whether you want to know the meaning of life or if there’s life on other planets - it’s all a question of science and engineering. As part of the celebrations for National Science and Engineering Week 2008, the BA (British Association for the Advancement of Science), in partnership with the Engineering and Technology Board, (ETB), is inviting the UK public to pose its big questions to Britain’s leading scientists and engineers.
Popular questions will be answered online during National Science and Engineering Week and in a series of live events hosted by leading experts and science communicators around the UK. So if you or anyone you know wants to know about the big stuff (or even the small stuff), submit your questions at www.the-ba.net/thebigquestion.
Running your event
The National Science and Engineering Week website has a host of free resources available, providing guidance on all you need to know to run an event. Visit www.the-ba.net/nsewresources for more information.
National Science and Engineering Week is coordinated by the BA in partnership with the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB), and funded by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).
