Promoting Professional Membership and Registration: Stakeholder Workshop

On Thursday 8th November, the ETB and ECUK held a stakeholder workshop to discuss and identify how best to promote to membership of professional institutions and national registration.

On Thursday 8th November, the ETB and ECUK held a stakeholders’ workshop to explore ways to encourage more engineers to seek professional recognition.

Professional registration and membership is not only an essential milestone in an engineer’s career development; it is internationally accepted and therefore a highly significant factor in underwriting global trade. Employers also benefit from the critical assessment of training and qualifications, and the corroborating evidence of competence that registration and membership provides.

The workshop was chaired by Professor Bill Banks, Deputy President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a former Chairman of the Engineering Professors’ Council, and afforded a forum for invited senior managers, marketing and HR executives from professional engineering institutions and employers to share their experiences. A  summary of proceedings identifying new strategies and marketing initiatives will be published shortly.
